Guiva P. Weismann

June 18, 1925 — March 26, 2013

Guiva Weismann, age 87 of Elwood, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Lexington Regional Health Center. Guiva was born June 18, 1925 at Elwood to Clarence and Myrtle (Whisler) Moncrief. She attended Kampton District 13 for 8 years and graduated from Elwood High School in 1943. On August 29, 1943, Guiva married Martin Weismann at St. Francis, Kansas. The couple made their home in Elwood and their union was blessed with 3 children, Barry, Bill and Colleen. Guiva and Martin were proud to have been charter members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood. In addition to raising her family she worked and cooked at the Sale Barn for a number of years, often having her children assist her in making homemade ice cream which she brought over for all to enjoy. She had also worked at Cliff""s Cafe for several years. Most recently, Guiva had made her home at the Elwood Care Center where she made many good friends. Guiva enjoyed traveling with her husband and the two enjoyed spending winter months in Texas. The couple bowled together on leagues for many years and enjoyed their card club, ""Country Cousins and Uncle George""�. Guiva also spent many hours crocheting anything from pillowcases to rugs and loved caring for houseplants and spending time in her garden. A memorial has been established in her memory. Guiva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin in 2004; a son, Barry in 1963; all of her siblings, Robert and Eileen Moncrief, Burdette and Janice Moncrief, Clyde and Doris Moncrief, Bud and Meredith Whitman-Seiler and Vada and Corvin Puls. Survivors include her son, Bill (Kathy) Weismann and daughter, Coleen (Bob Beam) Weismann, all of Elwood; brother-in-law, Hank Seiler of Grant and a host of relatives on both the Moncrief and Weismann family sides. Services will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood with Reverend David Dobbertien officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
