Dale Mitchell, age 72 of Cozad, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Dale was born June 13, 1940 at Cozad, Nebraska to Walter and Ina (Troxel) Mitchell. Dale graduated from Cozad High School and went on to attend Kearney State College. Following his schooling, Dale entered the U.S. Army where he served in 1958 and 1959. Following his discharge, Dale returned to Cozad and on June 1, 1970, he married Lanna Lorentzen at North Platte, NE. The couple made their home in Cozad where they resided their entire married lives. Their marriage was blessed with 3 daughters, Kimberly, Kristin and Karma. While in Cozad, Dale worked as the Fertilizer Sales Manager for All Points Cooperative. Although ownership changed during his career, he spent nearly 50 years with the company that began as Bellamy Grain. Dale loved Husker football, golfing, deep sea and freshwater fishing, and hunting pheasant and turkey. He was active in his community, having memberships and serving as past President for the Nebraska Fertilizer Institute, Cozad Jaycees, and the Cozad Chamber of Commerce respectively. Dale was currently acting as co-chairman of the Chamber""s Ag Committee. He was a dedicated member of the American Lutheran Church in Cozad where he had served on various boards both past and present. Dale was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather; while he gave generously of his time to civic service, he cherished every moment spent with his family. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lanna Mitchell of Cozad; 3 daughters, Kimberly and Todd Frazier of Johnston, IA, Kristin and Michael Carnes of Urbandale, IA, Karma and Brian York of Johnston, IA; 6 grandchildren, Sarah Frazier, Katie Frazier, Kiana Carnes, Tessa Carnes, Cooper York, Braden York, and another grandchild on the way. Services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad with Pastor Mike Parsh officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
