Jerry Rupe, age 68 of Eustis, passed away February 6, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Jerry was born August 13, 1944 at Eustis, Nebraska to Walter and Anna (Oldenburg) Rupe. He graduated from Eustis High School. Following his schooling, Jerry worked in construction at Gothenburg before entering the Army National Guard in the late 1960""s. Jerry married Linda Cochrane in 1971 at Eustis. Their union was blessed with 2 children, Anna and Cody. They family made their home on the family farmstead south of Eustis, where Jerry farmed and raised livestock. The couple later divorced. Jerry always had a love for animals, from his dogs to the livestock that he raised. One of his outlets in life was riding his horses. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, particularly deer and elk. In his free time, Jerry also liked to hunt the Eustis countryside for artifacts. Jerry was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eustis. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and 3 stepsisters, Geraldine Stahl, Marjorie Mosher and Winifred Sturb. Survivors include his daughter, Anna Rupe and fiancé Brestel of Eustis; son, Cody (Amanda) Rupe of Kearney; 4 grandchildren, Sebastian D. Rupe, Dakota L. Wigstone, Wyatt H. Stumpf and Amelia L. Rupe; 2 sisters, Verna Mae (Wayne) Gruber of Eustis, Eloris Burham of Washington D.C.; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial has been established in his memory. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eustis with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Inurnment will be in the Westview Cemetery at Eustis at a later date. There will be no visitation. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
