Ralph Vernon Rasmussen

Ralph Rasmussen,age 89, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013, at Heritage Club Mountain View in Denver,Colorado. Ralph was born April 8, 1923 in Cozad, NE to S. John and Marthine (Thomsen) Rasmussen. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1940. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. Ralph married Lucille Maack of Cozad on July 12, 1952, in Los Angeles, CA. This union was blessed with one daughter, Cindy Ann. After living in California and Kansas, they settled in Denver, where Ralph worked for the Denver Post until his retirement in 1986. Ralph and Lucille lived in Sun City, AZ from 1997-2004. Ralph was active in the Lions Club, Nebraska Club and the Willowbrook Methodist Church. They returned to Denver to be closer to family. After his wife, Lucille, passed away in May 2012, he continued to be a resident of Heritage Club Mountain View in Denver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, his parents, brother, Edwin Rasmussen and sister Viola Brake. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Michael) Staughton and grandson Taylor Staughton of Edwards, Colorado, sister, Betty Baker, of Cozad, NE and brother in law, Lawrence Maack of Cozad, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Denver Hospice, VFW, Disabled Veterans or to the donor's choice. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
