Daile L. Gaudreault

May 20, 1944 — December 18, 2012

Daile ""Butch"" Gaudreault, 68, of Cozad, passed away December 18, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Butch was born May 20, 1944 at Baltimore, Maryland to LeRoy D. and Caroline E. (Galusky) Gaudreault. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1963. Following his schooling, Butch worked for Monroe""s for a year before attending beauty school in Kearney. On June 26, 1965, Butch married Betty Brand at Christ The King Catholic Church in Cozad. The couple moved to Lincoln where Butch worked at a hair salon at Gold""s department store. While at Gold""s, Butch would salvage the toys that were being thrown away from the department store. In 1966, the couple moved back to Cozad where they opened a beauty salon. While running the salon, Butch always stayed busy with other jobs and projects. He worked at Mead Lumber, made and repaired musical instruments, and always seemed to have home remodeling projects. In the early 1980""s, Butch took over his father""s position as maintenance man for Southview Manor. In 1995, Butch opened Frenchy""s Music on 12th street. Opening the music store was a culmination of one of Butch""s great loves in life; music. He spent countless hours building Guitars and Banjos from scratch and repairing musical instruments over the years. Shortly after opening shop he began work at South Central Developmental Services, retiring in 2001. Butch was a man of many talents, and his creativity didn""t end with art and music; he was also an excellent gourmet cook. He had a special love of animals, especially cats, and often found himself rescuing animals that faced being put down. The animal rescue effort was always a cause that was dear to his heart. Butch""s family was also very important to him; he enjoyed working on the family genealogy for years. Butch was a member of the Christ The King Catholic Church in Cozad. He was proud to have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and later became a Scoutmaster of troops #187 and #188. Butch was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline; grandparents, Alcide and Aura Gaudreault; Louis and Helen Galusky; aunt, Elizabeth; cousins, John Zgud, Jr., Mary (Gonzalo) Vallejo and their 2 children Ilsa and Alonso; his great niece and nephew, Carly and John Sitorius.
