Robert ""Bob""� Wade, age 76 of Johnson Lake, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Bryan LGH Medical Center East. Bob was born September 5, 1936 east of Elwood to Lowell E. and Alice L. (Fong) Wade. He graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1954. Bob later attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln before joining the Army National Guard. It was at boot camp that Bob met his eventual wife, Catherine Clough. On December 7, 1958, Bob married Catherine at Versailles, Kentucky. The couple made their home in the Elwood area where Bob farmed with his father for several years. Bob""s life was blessed with 3 children, Sonia, Greg and Todd. In 1969, the family moved to California where Bob worked in trucking. A few years later they moved to Waverly, Nebraska where he worked at Good Year and Yellow Freight. In 1974, Bob moved to Lexington, where he resumed farming. He also did some real estate development, but farming always remained his passion. On March 3, 1984, Bob married Barbara Morris. The couple resided on the farm near Johnson Lake before eventually moving to a home at Lakeview Acres. Following Barb""s passing in 2008, Bob returned to the farm, where he lived and worked until his health would no longer allow. Bob was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Elwood. He had also been involved in the Lions Club in earlier years. Among Bob""s many enjoyments were farming, working with cattle, travelling and Husker football. He was also a bit of a philanthropist, having created and helped fund multiple local scholarships and charitable causes. In addition to his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lowell Dennis Wade; and a nephew, Lowell Chad Wade. Survivors include his daughter, Sonia (Randy) Howard of Gothenburg; 2 sons, Greg Wade of Elm Creek, Todd Wade of Lincoln; 2 step sons, Tim (Allison) Wamsley of Salt Lake City, UT, Scott (Debra) Wamsley of AL; step daughter, Sheri (Rick) Ballhorst of Grand Island; sister- Marilyn (Myron) Dawson of Elwood; 4 grandchildren, Monte (Amy) Brummet, Tasha Brummet, Sam Brummet, Rachel Howard; 2 great grandchild, Brenna Brummet, Tripp Brummet ; 5 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; his significant other, Carol Stalker of Kearney; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Elwood with Reverend Chuck Olsen officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Elwood. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
