Kay S. Ferguson, age 56 of Cozad, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at her home in Cozad. Kay was born August 19, 1956 at Sutherland, Nebraska to George F. and Lola L. (Lange) Green. She graduated from Hershey High School, later attending Mid Plains Community College in pursuit of a degree in criminal justice. Following her schooling, Kay served as a caretaker for her grandmother before she died. On May 12, 1986, Kay married James ""Jim""� Ferguson on a ranch north of Hershey, Nebraska. Kay resided in Sutherland while Jim finished his career with the Army. In 2000, Kay and Jim moved to Cozad where they remained the rest of their married lives. In earlier years, Kay enjoyed researching her family""s genealogy. She never had children of her own, but was always regarded as the fun-loving aunt by her nieces and nephews. She loved her pet cats and dogs. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim in 2011; and a brother, Ray ""Sandy""� M. Green. Survivors include her brother, Harold (LaPita) Green of Guaymas, Mexico; niece and nephews, Stephanie (Doug) David of Lenora, KS, Michael (Penny) Green of Paxton, Georgia (Jeff) Karel of Cozad, Timothy Johnson and Donna Brown both of Martinez, GA; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside inurnment services will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska with Pastor Jeremy Jech officiating. There will be no visitation. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
