Marilyn ""Becky""� Hecox, age 87 of Cozad passed away November 3, 2012 at the Cozad Community Hospital. Becky was born March 8, 1925 at Columbus, Nebraska to Bid and Mildred (Jessup) Boettcher. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1943. On August 1, 1946, Becky married Fred W. Hecox at Columbus, Nebraska. In 1948, the couple moved to San Diego, where they lived while Fred was serving in the U.S. Navy. In 1951, the family moved to Cozad, where Dr. Fred joined his father in the family dental practice and Becky lovingly cared for their 3 children, Terri, Cathy and Mike. Becky was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cozad where she remained active for many years. She was also an active member of the Cozad P.E.O. Chapter. Becky was an avid Husker athletics fan; she and Fred enjoyed season tickets to the football games for many years. She also enjoyed cooking, entertaining guests and playing bridge. Becky loved to travel, as well as spend time at the family cabin at Jeffrey Lake. The cabin at Jeffrey Lake was like a sanctuary for her; she cherished the wonderful moments shared with her family there. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Fred Hecox of Cozad; 2 daughters, Teresa (Jim) Lambrechts of Westminster, CO, Catherine Kissel of Kearney; son, Dr. Michael (Dawn) Hecox of Cozad; brother, Mark (Elizabeth) Boettcher, Jr. of Columbus; 7 grandchildren, Gina Denton, Darcy Week, Cody Kissel, Christopher Lambrechts, Dr. Ashton Hecox, Tarron Hecox and Cullon Hecox; and 3 great grandchildren, Kyle, Evan & Riley. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cozad with Pastor Elaine Besthorn officiating. A private family burial will be held in the Cozad Cemetery prior to the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
