Gary John Jacob of Windsor, Colo., passed away on September 15, 2012 at age 61. Gary, a Certified Energy Specialist and farmer died in Hospice Care in Greeley, Colo., from complications with congestive heart failure. Gary was born on June 28, 1951 to Milford and Dorothy Jacob, the first of five children. Growing up in Dawson County, Nebraska Gary graduated from Cozad High School and furthered his education at Kearney State College. In 1971 he married Connie Sheffield. Gary and Connie resided in Dawson County where they began farming north east of Gothenburg. Gary and Connie have two daughters, Stacie and Amy and together they lived and worked on the family farm. Gary and his family were active in the Dawson County 4-H program and community. Gary continued his career in agriculture working in the lumber industry and in 1998 he and Connie moved to Windsor, Colo. Soon after he began working for Cenex with Agfinity Co-op in Lucerne, Colo. Between work and family, Gary enjoyed drives through the mountains, Nebraska football and following the progress of the crops throughout the growing season each year. Gary retired in 2010 due to health complications. Gary is survived by his wife Connie of Windsor, Colo.; daughters Stacie Jacob of Paso Robles, Calif., and Amy Jacob of Casper, Wyo.; siblings Raymond (Carol) Jacob and Randy (Kathy) Jacob of Cozad, Neb., Linda (Dirk) Greene of Imperial, Neb.; brother-n-law Tom Delahunty, mother-n-law Alice Sheffield and brother-n-law, Kenny (Donna) Sheffield all of Gothenburg, Neb., along with many nephews, nieces, cousins aunts and uncles. Gary was predeceased by his parents Milford and Dorothy Jacob; sister, Sonia Delahunty, father-n-law Verlo Sheffield and nephew Jesse Sheffield. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor, Colo., on October 11 starting at 2:00 p.m. and at the First Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg, Neb., on October 13 starting at 11:00 a.m. A memorial fund for the Heart Center of the Rockies and Dawson County 4-H Foundation have been established. Inurnment will be in the Cozad Cemetery.
