Doris “Dody” Paulsen, age 84 of Cozad, passed away October 28, 2013 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. Dody was born August 20, 1929 at Gothenburg, Nebraska to Henry and Mable (Owings) Ballmer. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1948. On June 16, 1948, Dody married Earl Paulsen. Their union was blessed with 3 children, Jodi, Gwen and Todd. Earl and Dody made their home in Cozad where they owned and operated a feedlot. In addition to the feedlot, Dody owned and operated Cozad Fashions, a ladies dress shop, for many years. Dody was a long time member of Cozad Does Drove 177 and a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church. Dody excelled as a seamstress and invested her spare time in art work, gardening and canning. She had a love for animals and spending time in her yard. Dody was preceded in death by her husband Earl; daughter Gwen (Jeff) Walker; sister, Clara (Sue) Gallagher and brother, Bill Ballmer. Survivors include her son, Todd (Griselda) Paulsen of Bellevue, daughter, Jodi (Mike) Jack of Marble Falls, TX; grandchildren, Josh (Andrea) Jack, Joe (Danielle) Jack, Jamie (Ben) Clark, Vicki, German and Heidi Serrano; 6 great-grandchildren, Sara, Ian, Riley, Mikah, J.T. and Adrian; sister, Lavonne (Bonnie) Paulsen of Gothenburg; sister-in-law, Roine (Ballmer) Ecklund of Gothenburg and many other relatives and friends. A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 2nd, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Cozad with Pastor Elaine Besthorn officiating. Inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery, south of Cozad at 10:00 a.m. Visitation for memorial book signature will be Friday, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
