Patricia Fingerhut, age 79, of Cozad, passed away November 15, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Cozad. On May 16, 1934 she was born at Knox, IN to Glenn and Francis (Ford) VanDeman. She graduated from Knox High School in 1952. On April 4, 1953, Patricia was united in marriage to Ken Fingerhut at Chicago, IL. They moved to Cozad in 1966 where she worked at Valley Vending for many years and was affectionately known to many as “Ma”. They also owned and operated the Detour Lounge where her sausage and sauerkraut soup was a favorite. She loved her family, crossword puzzles, crafts, sewing, and having a toddy. Survivors include her husband; Ken “Pa” Fingerhut of Cozad, children; Kim (Lynn) Johnson of Johnson Lake, Kirk (Jill) Fingerhut of Holdredge, Kelly (Lannie) Kvasnicka, Kent (Deb) Fingerhut, and Kris (Julie) Fingerhut all of Cozad, three sisters; Sharon Anspach of Logansport, IN, Lynn VanDeman of Mishawaka, IN, and Deb (Alan) Whisler of Richmond, VA, brother; David (Kathy) VanDeman of Grand Junction, CO, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Inurnment will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Following the committal service, everyone is invited to the Elks Club to greet the family. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 1 to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in her memory.
