On Monday, November 18, 2013, surrounded by family, Marvin L. Hardee succumbed to cancer in the Cozad Community Hospital at age 58. Born March 16, 1955, in the same hospital to Warren (Slim) and Ethel Hardee, Marvin lived his entire life in the community. After graduating from Cozad High School in 1973, he spent most of his years working in construction. Although he had become disabled in the last several years, he liked to keep busy tinkering on little home improvement projects and helping family and friends with theirs, if he was able to do so. He also enjoyed fishing, watching football, WWF and pro boxing, listening to the “Golden Oldies” and country music, and spending time with family and friends. He was welcomed to his eternal home by those that preceded him, his parents; half-brother, Raymond Harwood; two brothers, Donald Hardee and Robert Hardee; sister, Virginia Hardee; brother-in law, Dale Steele; niece, Mara Harwood; and great nephew, Brody (Hardee) Malcom. Those left behind to celebrate his life include his brothers, Ivan (Jackie) Harwood of Fayetteville, AR and Cozad, Douglas (Doris) Hardee of Prairie Grove, AR, Dennis (Dianne) Hardee of Brighton, CO; sister, Luella (Neal) Foland of Ravenna, NE and several good friends that had become his “brothers from other mothers”. Graveside inurnment services for Marvin L. Hardee of Cozad will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad Cemetery with Pastor Roger Sloan officiating. Following the committal service, everyone is invited to a lunch at the Church of Christ on Newell. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, local AA group or donor's choice. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
