Theresa Benton

Theresa Benton, age 92 of Cozad, passed away December 28, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Theresa was born November 7, 1921 at Genoa, Nebraska to Stanley and Anna (Paprocki) Borowski. Theresa attended rural school at Perkins County and went on to Beauty School in Grand Island. Theresa married Leslie "Pete" Benton on March 21, 1943 at Lexington, Nebraska. The couple made their home southwest of Cozad. Theresa was a hairdresser in Cozad for many years, and also worked for Berryman Funeral Home. Theresa was an active and devoted member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Cozad. She was a member and officer of the Cozad BPO DOES Drove #177. Theresa was involved in various card clubs, and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband Pete; son Jerry; daughter Mary Ann Tarrant; sister Esther Otterstein; and 3 brothers, Lewellen Borowski, Leonard Borowski and Melvin Borowski. She is lovingly survived by her daughter Kathleen (Rod) Nielsen of Kearney; son-in-law Lowell Tarrant of Milliken, CO; 3 brothers, Edward Borowski of Grant, Dan (Mary Sue) Borowski of Grant and Harry (Bobbi) Borowski of Colorado Springs, CO; 3 grandchildren, Shane Tarrant, Clint Nielsen and Crystal Nielsen; 1 great grandchild, Grant Patrick Tarrant; and many other relatives and friends. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ The King Catholic Church in Cozad with Father Don O’Brien as celebrant. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Christ The King Catholic Church in Cozad. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
