Roger Roland Blomquist

November 30, 1939 — January 9, 2014

Roger R. Blomquist, age 74 of Cozad, passed away January 9, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Roger was born November 30, 1939 at Grand Island, Nebraska to Walter and Lola (Brundage) Blomquist. He attended school in and around the Grand Island area. He also attended a tech school for 1 1/2 years. In 1957, Roger joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in active duty for 3 years and in the reserves for 3 years. Roger was employed by Paulsen, Inc. for a few years and as an apartment manager while living in Loveland, Colorado. He enjoyed watching old movies, especially westerns. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren. Roger loved old cars and cooking, and in the last few years he enjoyed his soda and "sweets". Roger fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by many. He is lovingly survived by his wife Kay of 34 years; 2 sons, Keith and Darin Blomquist of CA; 3 step-daughters, Billie (Tim) Land of Cozad, Bobbie (Moises) Samayoa of Lexington and Angel (David) Torres of Overton; step-son William (Christina) Kostman Jr. of Cozad; 22 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and niece Angie Parker and family of Yutan. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother Milton Blomquist of Grand Island; stepmother Erma Blomquist; and 3 grandchildren, Taylor, Harley and Ezekial. A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be Monday, January 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad. Burial with military honors will be at Cozad Cemetery. The casket will be closed. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
