Charles H. Strasburg, age 84 of Cozad, passed away January 15, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Charles was born June 17, 1929 at Arnold, Nebraska to Harold and Madeline (Carlson) Strasburg. Charles graduated from Gandy High School in 1947. On January 27, 1948, Charles married Marjorie Connely at the Strasburg family farm at Arnold, Nebraska. The couple moved to Stapleton, Nebraska where Charles operated a road grader for a few years. They eventually moved back to Arnold. Charles drove truck for Sam Conley, drove Gas Transport for Ed Erikson, and cattle trucking for Clarance Romans for 10 years. Charles hauled horses to New York and cattle to Indiana. He ran Lex Mill in Arnold for 3 years and sold feed for Laurence Wall for 3 years. He also drove a delivery truck for Spargos Store for 10 years. In January of 1977, the couple moved to Cozad. Charles went to work for Monroe Auto. He was a faithful employee for over 17 years, and retired from Monroe Auto at the of 65. Charles was member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2922 at Lexington, NE. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marjorie; son Mitch; brother, Ed Strasburg; granddaughter, Heather Klein. Survivors include 2 sons, Kevin (Ann) Strasburg of Lincoln and Lemoyne (Deb Klein) of Cozad; 7 grandchildren, Crystal (Danny) Strasburg, Greeley, Co, Desiree (Ryan) Lee, Port Orange, FL, Mindy (Clark) McConnell, Castle Rock, CO, Justin (Jailyn) Strasburg, Arnold, NE, Candi (Tyler) Louis, Pleasanton, NE, Tara (Greg) Renner, North Platte, Hilary Behrens, Lincoln and Christa Klein, Cozad; 14 great grandchildren, Cruz, Isabella, Zachary, Tristen, Reed, Piper, Parker, Breckyn, McKenna, Nathan, E.J., John, Dalton and A.J.; brother-in-law, Gary Connely of Arizona; numerous other family and friends.. Services will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Rev. Eugene Purcell officiating. Burial will be at the Arnold Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad, casket will be closed. A memorial has been established in his memory.
