Rodney G. Weatherly

Rodney G. "Rock" Weatherly, age 66 of Cozad, passed away March 29, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.  Rock was born November 20, 1947 to Donald J. and Mildred M. (McNulty) Weatherly at Lexington, Nebraska.  Rock graduated from Cozad High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.  On September 20, 1969, Rock married Carolyn Kay Lindekugel at the Cozad Christian Church in Cozad.  They were blessed with 3 children, Roxanne, Randy and Robyn. Rock loved playing golf, fishing from his boat and spending time at their cabin at Johnson Lake.  But most of all, Rock was a proud grandpa, and greatly enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.  He had a special love for his dog, Mya.  They took a ride in his pickup every day to get the newspaper.  Sometimes so Mya could chase rabbits in a field somewhere. Rock worked for Simon Motor Co. in Gothenburg and in the 1990's he went to work for Paulsen Construction and eventually became plant manager until his retirement. Rock was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Milford and Donald Weatherly; his mother and father in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lindekugel. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Carolyn Weatherly of Cozad; 2 daughters, Roxanne Weatherly of Ponca City, OK and Robyn (Scott) Geiser of Cozad; son Randy (Tonya) Weatherly of Cozad; 2 sisters Mildred "Kay" (Dale) Culver of Bellevue, NE and Sheila Wright of Kingman, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Logan and Dillon Geiser, Madison, Jacob and Erica Weatherly; son-in-law Mike Johnston and many other relatives and friends.  He will be missed by all. Services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Cozad Christian Church with Pastor Jeremy Jech officiating.  Burial with military honors will be at the Cozad Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.  A memorial has been established in his memory.  Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
