Farrell K. Reier

Farrell Kay Reier, age 77 of Cozad, passed away April 13, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Farrell was born January 15, 1937 to Earnest and Opal (Chadwick) Smidt at Cozad.  Farrell grew up on a farm northeast of Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School in 1954.On January 16, 1955, Farrell married Charles Reier.  The couple made their home at  Cozad.  To this union 4 children were born, Tonia, James, Stacy and KaDon. Farrell worked as a hairdresser for many years and as a Teachers Aide.  Farrell loved the outdoors, especially gardening, yard work and fishing.  She was a faithful and devoted member of her church.  She loved sports and playing cards.  Farrell was also a wonderful cook.  Her family was her pride and joy and she made sure they always left her home with full stomachs and warm hearts. Farrell was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Tonia and brother Keith. Farrell is lovingly survived by her husband Charles (Dick) Reier of Cozad; son James (Nancy) Reier of Kearney ; daughter Stacy (Mike) Hickenbottom of Cozad and son KaDon (Tammy) Reier of Fruitland Park, FL ; grandchildren, Taya (Joey), Jana, Aaron (Brittany), Gavyn, Kaleb, Mallory, Jordan, and Shanna (Eric); great grandson Weston; brothers Dean (Shirley) Smidt and Maynard (Sharon) Smidt. Services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church north of Cozad with Kathy Gundell officiating.  Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8.  A memorial has been established in her memory.  Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
