Rickey T. Thornton

     Rickey Theron Thornton, age 53, of Cozad, died April 18, 2014 at the Cozad Hospital.  He was born on March 31, 1961 in Salt Lake City, UT to Richard Carl and Glenna Renna (Chatwin) Thornton.      Rickey attended school in Cozad and had worked in the Cozad area.  He was very family oriented and loved his family very much.  Rickey was a very outgoing person, never knowing a stranger, always being friendly and was the first to speak.  He had a way of taking life in stride.  He loved adventure, changing his life many times.  He was an avid fisherman, especially enjoying trips to Mexico and Alaska      Survivors include his father, Richard (Linda) Thornton of Cozad; 2 children, Rickey Richard (Emi) Thornton of Lakewood, CO, and Bryan Wayne Benash of Gothenburg; 3 siblings, Rock R. (Susie) Thornton of Cozad, Gayle R. (Jim) Berryman of Aurora, Co, and Ryan (Christina) Wagener of Colorado Springs, CO; a grandson, Rickey Thornton III of Lakewood, CO;  nieces and nephews, Cherease Berryman of Aurora, CO, Jacilyn (Kai) Szoka-Berryman of Aurora, CO, Austin (Kalynn Brooks) Thornton of Lincoln, Brook Thornton of Kearney, Ashton Berryman of Aurora, CO, Skylar Wagener of Colorado Springs, CO, Ravyn Wagener of Colorado Springs, CO, and Luna Wagener of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous other family members and friends.  Rickey was preceded in death by his mother, Glenna; grandparents, Carl and Evelyn Thornton, Theron Chatwin, Clara Chatwin Featherston, and Carrol Featherston; and a niece Sierra Havenhill-Berryman. A memorial has been established in his memory and online condolences can be made shared at www.berrymanfuneralhome.com.     Graveside Services will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Walnut Grove Cemetery North of Cozad with the Rev. Roger Sloan officiating.  Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
