David J Abbott

David J. Abbott, age 58 of Cozad, passed away May 29, 2014 at his home. David was born June 19, 1955 at Cozad, Nebraska to Kenneth and Frances "Dawn" (Jensen) Abbott. David attended District #26 and District #16 rural schools. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1973.Following graduation, David went to work for Alfred Hald building houses. David was a gifted craftsman and eventually became a self employed contractor. David enjoyed flying airplanes and owned his own Tri-Pacer Airplane. He built his own ultra-lite and was able to fly a few times. David also took joy in flying remote control airplanes. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Abbott; brother Jami Abbott; fiance, Jeanette Borth; and sister-in-law Alberta Abbott. David is lovingly survived by his mother, Dawn Abbott of Cozad; sisters, Deb (Pete) Wardyn of Cozad, Tammy Baruth of Pueblo, CO and Patty (Bob) Grabenstein of Cozad; brother Dwain Abbott and his fiancé Jill Myer of Cozad; nieces, nephews and many other relatives. Services will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Berryman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
