Jordan C. Smith, age 12 of Cozad, very much loved youngest son of Kelly and Karla Smith, passed away, Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home. Jordan was born July 12, 2001 at Hastings, Nebraska to Kelly and Karla (Scarrow) Smith. He attended Cozad Elementary and Middle Schools. It was Jordan's passion to travel to other planets and to mingle with the stars. He had an extreme curiosity of other dimensions and life after our own. Especially after the loss of his uncle, Glen Smith, in a 2014 automobile accident. However, he had never made any indication whatsoever of any intention of leaving us. He loved to play video games, football, go swimming, and hanging out with his sister Jacey. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting. Jordan was a happy, loving and caring young man. He warmed our hearts everyday with his non-stop smiles and laughter. He will be missed more than words could ever say. We pray that Jordan's journey leads him to the destination he was seeking. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Kelsey Smith; maternal grandparents, Don and Brenda Scarrow; uncle Damon Scarrow; great uncles Glen Smith, Edward Smith, Don Smith and Lorin Wagner; great grandparents Edwin and Virginia Smith, Clyde and Elinor Wagner and Wilber and Esther Kruse; and great-great aunt Dolly Zlomke. Jordan is lovingly survived by his parents Kelly and Karla Smith of Cozad; 2 sisters, Kandra (Kevin) Connelly of Missouri and Jacey Smith of Cozad; 3 brothers, Lane (Maggie Newburn) Smith of Cozad, Katlin (Heather) Smith of Cozad, and Chance (Heather Cardenas) Smith of Cozad; grandparents, Gaylene Scarrow of Gothenburg, Sandy (Marvin) Tabor of Kimball, Bill Smith of Lexington; uncle and aunt Shawn and Lorrie Scarrow of Gothenburg; great uncle Larry Smith of Cozad; many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. A private family burial will be at a later date. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in his memory.
