Judy K. Gibson, age 70 of Cozad, passed away June 7, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She was born May 4, 1944 at Lexington, NE to Carl and Nina (Rasmussen) Knudsen. Judy graduated from Cozad High School in 1962 and later from Lincoln General School of Nursing. She was a nurse at the Cozad Hospital following graduation and later was united in marriage to Larry R. Gibson on August 27, 1966. They moved to Denver, CO where Judy worked at Mercy Hospital. They returned to Cozad in 1968 to raise their family. Judy was devoted to her family and was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, being involved with many of their activities. Along with other partners, she opened the Strawberry Patch which she enjoyed. Judy later served as director of nursing at Southview Manor and later worked at Cozad Medical Clinic. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she played the organ for many years and taught Sunday, Bible, and Confirmation classes. Judy's love of music lead her to teach many children piano lessons. Her family includes her daughter; Nicole (Jarod) Rush of Callaway, sons; Clint Gibson of Cozad and Jon Gibson of Lincoln, brother; Alan Knudsen of Cozad, sister; Lana (Alan) Moeller of Lincoln, grandchildren; Jordan and Jack Rush of Callaway; Knudsen cousins that went on yearly trips with Judy, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry “Hoot” Gibson and an infant granddaughter, Kaylin Christine Rush .A celebration of Judy’s life will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church northeast of Cozad. Burial will be at the St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Tuesday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. A memorial has been established in her memory. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
