Margaret M. Paulsen

Margaret M. Paulsen, age 97 of Cozad, passed away August 18, 2014 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. Margaret was born December 22, 1916 at Wisner, Nebraska to John and Eliza (Ball) Horst. She attended school at Wisner and graduated with the class of 1934. Margaret married Ervin "Polly" Paulsen in 1937 at Sioux City, Iowa. The couple moved to Cozad in 1938. Upon moving to Cozad, Margaret worked at Happ's Cafe and then went to work as a clerk at W.J. O'Conner's Dimestore for 28 years. She also volunteered at the Thriftshop in Cozad for nearly 20 years. She was a member of the Cozad United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Margaret enjoyed embroidering and other hand work. She loved to play cards at the Cozad Elks Lodge ladies night. She was an avid reader and cherished time spent with her family. She will be missed by many. Memorials are suggested to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or to the family. Margaret is lovingly survived by her grandson Michael Paulsen of Omaha; 2 granddaughters, Melinda Baker of Dewitt and Tracy Beranek of Milford; 8 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy Paulsen of Omaha; and a brother, Leonard Horst of Wisner. Services will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 11:30 AM at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. A private family burial will be prior to the service. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 PM to 8 PM at Berryman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
