Gilbert Devine

Gilbert L. "Gib" Devine of Cozad passed away August 28, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Cozad at the age of 85. Gib was born September 7, 1928 in Farnam, Nebraska to Albert and Rebecca (Hilton) Devine. He grew up in the Eustis-Farnam area, and attended rural schools. On March 16, 1949 Gib married Kelva Beans at the Cozad United Methodist Church. The couple was blessed with 3 children, Randy, Steve and Judy. Gib farmed and tended to his cattle and horses for many years in the Cozad Area. Family was a priority to Gib. He cherished time spent with his family, and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Gib was a great guitar player and enjoyed playing music with his relatives at many family gatherings. He also enjoyed making things out of horseshoes. He was a member of the Cozad United Methodist Church. Gib was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother, Dale Devine. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Kelva of Cozad; 2 sons, Randy (Karen) Devine of Lincoln and Steve (Barb) Devine of Eustis; daughter Judy Devine of Ventura, CA; 2 brothers, Wayne (Norma) Devine of Grand Island and Morris Devine of Gothenburg; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many other relatives. A memorial has been established in his memory. Services will be Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad. Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
