Orin W. Hendricks

Orin W. Hendricks, age 83 of Cozad, passed away October 22, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Cozad. Orin was born January 14, 1931 to Rollie and Cleta (Boggs) Hendricks on their farm near Callaway, Nebraska. Orin attended school in Callaway and graduated with the class of 1948. He was a superior athlete in football, baseball and track. Following graduation, Orin entered the US Army and proudly served from 1951 to 1954. On September 4, 1955, Orin married Della Louise Sargent. The couple made their home in Cozad, Nebraska and were blessed with a son, Larry. Orin operated heavy equipment and was the ditch rider for SSD. Orin and Della were avid square and round dancers. They also enjoyed traveling to the Black Hills. Orin liked to watch sports and playing with his beloved cats. He was a member of the Cozad Honor Guard. Orin was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Joyce Hendricks; and niece, Kathy and nephew, Wayne Hendricks. Survivors include his wife, Della of Cozad; son Larry Hendricks of Cozad; brothers, Kenneth (Ruth) Hendricks of Lexington, Walt (Doris) Hendricks of Broken Bow, and Richard Hendricks of Callaway. Services will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
