Neola Marie Hill, age 87 of Cozad, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Cozad Community Hospital. She was born May 29, 1927 in Athol, Kansas to Ed and Emma (Giese) Walter. Her family moved to Cozad when Neola was a young girl. On October 7, 1944 she married Wayne 'Bud' Hill. Bud worked in construction and so the family moved around. They lived in Cozad, South Bend, Arcadia, Loveland Colorado and Oregon. Neola ran a grocery store in Arcadia for many years. She also worked as a nurse's aide at nursing homes in Broken Bow and Loup City. Some weekends she even helped Bud put up grain bins. When Bud's health began to deteriorate she took excellent care of him and was always there for her entire family. She loved watching Nebraska football games and listening to country music. Survivors include two sons, Dwayne (Lorraine Hermann) Hill of Miller and Dennis (Sharon) Hill of Cozad; daughter-in-law Pam Hill of Grand Island; five grandchildren, Chris Hill of Lexington, Denise (Charley) Schwarz of Lexington, Jammie Dodge of Aurora, Doug (Brooke) Daake of Broken Bow, and Doyle (Pam) Daake of Smithfield; 13 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bud; son Rick Hill; brother Gene Walter; sister Geniveve Kostman; grandson Patrick Hill and great grandson Joshua Daake. A memorial has been established in her name and online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Cozad Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
