Darin D. Hoffmaster, age 47 of Cozad, passed away January 28, 2015 at the Medical Center in Omaha. Darin was born June 5, 1967 in Aurora, Nebraska to Allan and Kathy (Wulf) Hoffmaster. He graduated from Cozad High School with the Class of 1985 and worked at a hog confinement for Ron and Linda Arnold. Darin went on to study Agriculture at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa and worked at a hog confinement in Tekamah, NE. He also farmed for Doug and Kay Gengenbach before moving to Lincoln where he worked for TriCon Industries. On July 23, 2005 Darin married Jill Thompson at St. John's Lutheran Church North of Cozad. The couple resided in Cozad where he worked for Adecco Corporation. He eventually became manager of Elite Staffing in Cozad and continued working, even through his illness. Darin enjoyed playing pool, fishing, Nebraska football, golf and NASCAR. He loved his family and friends very much, especially his grandchildren and dogs. He was an inspiration to the very end, keeping his sense of humor and never stopped his communication with family and friends. Darin is lovingly survived by his wife Jill of Cozad; his parents, Allan and Kathy Hoffmaster of Cozad; daughter Anna Barber of Omaha; son Estaphon (Chasity) Hoffmaster of Utica, NE; stepson Jordan Nicewonger of Lexington; grandchildren, Maliyah and Silas Hoffmaster of Utica, NE; siblings, Troy Hoffmaster of Hastings, Duane (Rainy) Hoffmaster of Lexington, Terry (Shelley) Hoffmaster of McCook and Tyrone (Julie) Hoffmaster of Cozad; grandmother Bessie Wulf of Ohiowa, NE; great aunt Sadie Wedeking of Geneva, NE; brother-in-laws, Scott Thompson of Cozad and Kent (Joy) Thompson of Lincoln; mother and father in-law, Ann and DuWayne Thompson of Lincoln; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Merle and Bernice Hoffmaster and Arthur Wulf. A memorial has been established in his memory for later designation. Services will be held Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Cozad United Methodist Church, 1515 B St., with Pastor Mike Parsh officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery with lunch to follow at the American Lutheran Church, 200 East 12th St. in Cozad. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm and on Sunday from 1 pm to 7 pm at Berryman Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
