Bessie Garrison

Bessie M. Garrison, age 81 of Cozad, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at her home. Bessie was born July 28, 1933 at Lincoln, Nebraska to Leif and Bessie (Wachter) Garrison. She lived in Beatrice, Nebraska for a while and worked in a nursery taking care of babies. She moved to Cozad in 1987 where she lived with her long time companion, Joe Maestas. Joe was always there for Bessie and took excellent care of her, especially when she became ill. Bessie liked to cook and clean house. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, shopping and coloring pictures. Bessie treasured time spent with Joe, taking a drive in the car and having picnics in North Platte. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Don Garrison. She is lovingly survived by her friend, Joe Maestas of Cozad; and sisters, Donna Jones of North Platte and Sharon Gillespie of Fresno, CA; nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
