Meddie J. Cote, age 58 from Cozad, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at Douglas, Wyoming as the result of a motorcycle accident. Meddie was born October 13, 1956 at Wahoo, Nebraska to Leroy and Josephine (Budd) Cote. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1975. On August 20, 1977, Meddie married Joyce Betz at Cozad. He worked at H and H Auto Body and Monroe Auto. In 2010, Meddie became custodian and bus driver at Cozad Public Schools. He thoroughly enjoyed all of his children's activities, as well as the students at the school. He enjoyed riding his Harley and taking trips. He raced sprint and modified cars and liked to restore antique cars. Meddie was a boy scout leader and a member of the 5th Street Angels. He was a faithful and devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Meddie was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Sr.; and brother, Timothy Cote. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cote of Cozad; children, Adam (Kassie) Cote of Salina, KS, Jared (Cassie) Cote of Lincoln, Steven (Elizabeth) Cote of Cozad and Mariah Cote of Kearney; mother, Josephine Cote of Grand Island; brothers, Kirk (Kelli) Cote of Arvada, CO and Leroy (Jane) Cote Jr. of Grand Island; sisters, Teresa (Bryan) Sandquist of Omaha, Mary (Bob) Singkofer of St. Paul, and Diana (Kim) McDonald of Grand Island; 5 grandchildren, Connor, Jed, Otto, Gwen and Jocelyn; and faithful companion, his dog Jasper. A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 4 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
