Dave A. Malcom, 61, of Callaway Nebraska passed away on August 15, 2015 at his home south of Callaway. Dave was born at Cozad, Nebraska on February 6, 1954 to Arven and Alice (Melstrom) Malcom. Dave grew up on the family dairy farm north of Cozad. He attended Redfern School and later went to Cozad, where he graduated High School. On April 10, 1976, Dave was united in marriage to Debra Putnam with a country themed wedding out in the middle of their favorite scenic pasture. To this marriage 4 children were born; Jennifer, David, Clay, and Tyler. Dave started the family ranch when he and Debra bought their acreage south of Callaway. Dave worked on the ranch and also did construction jobs to keep him busy, but his true love was to be out with his horses and cows. Dave owned and trained a team of horses which he loved to take out and give rides. He especially enjoyed taking his team into town and letting the older gentlemen, that grew up on horse and cart, drive it. Dave was a kind-hearted man that would do anything to help others. Dave liked to call his house a country coffee shop, because people often came out just to sit and visit. Dave was very proud of all of his children and their successful careers. His two youngest sons are currently serving in the military. He often mentioned how fortunate he was to have the family that he loved so much and to get to spend his life on the ranch. These were the things he loved more than anything. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Arven and Alice Malcom. He is survived by; his wife Deb of Callaway, daughter Jennifer (Jonath) Jackson of Cheyenne WY, sons, David (Shelly) Malcom of Roca NE, Clay (Catherine) Malcom of Augusta GA, and Tyler Malcom of Pensacola FL, grandchildren Maeci, Drew, and Madilynn Jackson, Sara, Jack and Grace Malcom, and Payton, Clayton, and Aubrey Malcom, sister, Rachael Lloyd of Lincoln NE, sister LaDonna Williams of Wichita KS, brother Larry (Carolyn) Malcom of Cozad, brother Arven Malcom of Cozad, brother Dennis (Sheila) Malcom of Callaway, sister Joanne Peden of Cozad, and numerous other extended family and friends.
