Dixie M. Lee of Cozad passed away October 8, 2015 at Kearney Regional Medical Center, at the age of 94. She was born August 23, 1921 at Edmond, Kansas to Jessy and Cora Mae (Jones) Weatherly. The family moved to Cozad in 1936. She graduated from Cozad High School. On December 20, 1941 she married Robert Lee at Norton, Kansas. The couple was blessed with 6 children. Dixie was one of the first 25 people to be hired at the Monroe Auto plant in Cozad, where she worked until her retirement. Dixie loved to watch and feed the birds and rabbits in her yard. She enjoyed dancing to her favorite country music and camping at Cambridge, Johnson Lake and Gallagher Canyon. Dixie was a member of the Methodist Church, downtown Cozad, where she taught Sunday School. She was also a Brownie Troop Leader. Dixie's most treasured times were spent with her family and friends, she will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; son, Michael Lee; sister, Eva Lou Weible; her twin brother, Don Weatherly; and brother, Dee Weatherly. Survivors include her children, Gary (Vickie) Lee of Cozad, Marlene (Doug) Callahan of Cozad, Kermit (Glenny) Lee of Eustis, Karen Oelkers of Cozad and Ann (Don Berry) Marhenke of Cozad; grandchildren, Monica (Mike) Earl, Corey Lee, Kim (Shawn) Darling, Callie (Youl) Brown, Jessica (Jason) German, Donica (Mark) Heineman, Lisa (Jeff) Barnes, LaTonia (Matt) Lindekugel, Shelley (Kelly) Sheets, Chadd (Tanna) Marhenke and Angie (Jim) Reed; and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A memorial has been established in her memory for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Kathy Gundell, P.M.A. officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
