Joanne M. Hoyt, former Cozad resident, passed away October 13, 2015 at Fayetteville, Arkansas as the result of an automobile accident at the age of 81. She was born June 18, 1934 at Cozad, Nebraska to Frank and Edna (Andersen) Manners. Joanne attended school in Cozad, Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1952. Joanne married Pat Hoyt on November 20, 1956 at the Presbyterian Church in Cozad, Nebraska. Jo worked in Kearney at a doctors office and went to Kearney State College. She then went to work with her husband Pat at Neska Oil Co around 1985 and became partners with him. Joanne's enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, knitting, and especially riding her bike. Joanne was active in the Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. Jo loved learning about her family history and genealogy. She also loved traveling. Joanne is proceeded in death by her parents; her brother, Frank Manners and sister, Donna Lou Manners. Her husband Patrick passed away on October 15, 2015. Survivors include her son, Brook (Michelle) Hoyt of Bay City, TX; her daughter, Amy Hoyt-Whiteley of Omaha; grandchildren, Ashley (David) Hoyt-Schild, Brianna Hoyt, Kelsey Marie Whiteley and Santana LeAn Whiteley; and sister Kathleen Hogan. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Cozad with Pastor David Boyd officiating. Inurnment will be at the Cozad Cemetery.
