Helen I. Peacock of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away October 6, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs at the age of 96. Helen was born in Gosper County, Nebraska, southwest of Elwood on April 6, 1919 to Wellington and Alice (Leggott) Hall. Her family moved to Elwood, Nebraska when she was five years old. She attended school in Elwood and graduated from Elwood High School with the Class of 1937. Helen had been a member of the Elwood Methodist Church. Helen moved to San Diego, California in 1943 and worked in an airplane factory during the war and later worked for the same company in purchasing and administration. On April 13, 1963, Helen married Robey T. Peacock of San Diego, California and other than a few years in Gardner, Kansas, they lived in San Diego. Robey passed away in 2012 and Helen moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be close to her niece and nephew, Carol and Don Manning. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Esther Schroeder and Alene Jones. Helen is survived by her nieces, Carol (Don) Manning of Colorado Springs CO and Meridee (Randall) Debban of Holdrege, NE; brother-in-law, Charles Henry Peacock; sister-in-law, Bertha Peacock; step granddaughter, Sara (Joel) Macadeo; step great grandchildren, Luke and Emily Macaden and other numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, Helen was cremated. A committal service will be held at the Elwood Cemetery on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mary Fuller officiating. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
