Carolyn L. Sharp of Cozad passed away November 8, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney at the age of 75. Carolyn was born July 24, 1940 at Lamar, Colorado to Winnie and Frieda 'Tiny' (Austin) Venn. She graduated from Lamar Union High School and attended Lamar Junior College. On August 31, 1958, Carolyn married Jerry Sharp in Lamar, Colorado. The couple moved to Greeley, Colorado in 1962 and then to Cozad in October of 1965. Carolyn worked at Cozad State Bank for Bill Young, the farmer/rancher paper for Vic Cover and for a short time for Roy Lahr and Jim Steinhagen. She eventually went to work for Dave McNally, CPA and was there for 38 years until her retirement. She belonged to the Cozad United Methodist Church where she was member of the choir, Leah Circle and was a mentor for the kids at the church. She was also a past member of Cozad Rotary, Hospice Advisory Board, the Cozad Jaycee's and Cozad United Way Board Member. She and Jerry traveled the U.S. and danced with Dudes and Dames Square Dance Club. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music. Carolyn was a devoted grandmother, criss-crossing the country and globe to follow their grandchildren's activities. Survivors include her husband, Jerry of Cozad; 3 children, Douglas (Diana) Sharp of Prairie Village, KS, Deiadra 'DeeDee' (Kevin) Smidt of Sheridan, WY, Dawn (Andy) Wright of Lincoln; siblings, Patsy Chandler of Greeley, CO, Richard 'Dick' (Sharon) Venn of Denver, Janice (Robert) Oswald of Burns, OR, Gregory (Penny) Venn of Golden, CO; grandchildren, Lucas (Kelsey) Sharp of Wellington, CO, Katie (fiance Bobby Gardner) Sharp of Gainsville, FL, Paul Smidt of Spearfish, SD, Annie Smidt of Sheridan, WY, Kamara (fiance Paul Hein) Wright of Clements, MD and Ian Wright of Lincoln; 2 great grandchildren, Hunter and Logan Sharp of Wellington, CO; sister-in-law, Charla Rae (Larry McMichael) Dunlap of Eads, CO; honorary grandchildren, Kalen and Karley Venn of Golden, CO; and many other family and friends.Memorials are suggested to Cozad United Way, Cozad Rotary, or Central Plains Hospice. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
