Kenneth A. 'Pa Hut' Fingerhut, age 82, departed this life at Cozad, Nebraska on December 14, 2015. Hut was born April 4, 1933 to Joseph and Helen (Jacobson) Fingerhut at Chicago, Illinois. Hut attended school in North Judson, Indiana where he graduated. In 1953 Hut met Patricia 'Ma', the love of his life, and they were married at North Judson, Indiana. To this union five children were born. Hut joined the Army in 1953 and honorably served his country until 1954. Hut returned from the service to help run the family business, Fingerhut Bakery, after his father's passing, until 1966 when they moved to Cozad, Nebraska. After moving to Cozad, Hut worked at Evan’s Bakery and Valley Vending. Hut also owned and operated the Detour Lounge in Cozad. Hut participated in many leagues in Cozad and Lexington, whether it was bowling, darts, or pool you could always count on him to be there. Hut and Ma were the center of their social group and loved hosting card parties at their house. He loved to watch sports on T.V., especially when his beloved team the Cubs were playing. Survivors include his children; Kim (Lynn) Johnson of Johnson Lake, Kirk (Jill) Fingerhut of Holdrege, Kelly (Lannie) Kvasnicka of Cozad, Kent (Deb) Fingerhut of Cozad, and Kris (Julie) Fingerhut of Cozad; brother, Keith Fingerhut of North Judson, IN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special friend, Bonnie Dytrych; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Patricia (Ma) Fingerhut, brother; Jerry Fingerhut of North Judson, IN. Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Cozad Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9 am to 5 pm Friday at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
