Twilia C. Phillips passed away January 5, 2016 at her home in Lexington at the age of 81. Twilia was born May 21, 1934 at Elwood, Nebraska to Harold and Geraldine (Griffith) Clark. She attended Bertrand High School and graduated with the class of 1952. On September 28, 1953 Twilia married Allan Phillips at the First Christian Church in Elwood, Nebraska. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Lexington Community Hospital before attending nursing school. After having acquired her LPN she worked for many years with Plum Creek Medical Group. She also served as an Election Clerk in Lexington with her sister Linda. She enjoyed working with Allan in their vast garden and was skilled at knitting, cross-stitch and crocheting. She had a special place in her heart for cats having always had at least one. The couple's home was known as the 'swinging door' because she and Allen provided a home and haven during times of need for siblings and as “second parents” to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allan; 2 sisters, Connie Reeves and Bette Carlson and brother-in-law's, Fred Carlson and Dan Henry. Survivors include 3 sisters, Norma Henry of Cozad, Charlotte (George) Wence of Kearney and Linda (James) Carlson of Lexington; 1 brother, Charles (Sandy) Clark of Waverly; brother-in-law, Jack Reeves of Cozad; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends. A memorial has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Elwood with Pastor Phyllis Dunlop officiating. Burial will be at the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad, which is in charge of arrangements.
