Steven E. White passed away January 15, 2016 at his home in Cozad at the age of 60. Steve was born January 19, 1955 at Honolulu, Hawaii to Donald and Asenath (Craven) White. He graduated from Lexington High School. He worked at the New Holland Factory in Lexington. In 1974, Steve married Deb Schwarz. The couple were blessed with 3 children, Misty, Chris and Steve. Steve attended the Law Enforcement Academy at Grand Island, Nebraska in 1983. He was an officer for Cozad Police Department until 1989 and Dawson County Sheriffs Department until 2002. Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles and was able to attend the 74th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2014. He loved camping as a family, with numerous law enforcement friends showing up at the camp site to visit. He was an avid Husker and Nascar fan, especially #24 Jeff Gordon. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Steve will be missed by many. A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. He was preceded in death by his mother, Asenath 'Senie' Mills. Survivors include his father, Donald (Kay) White; daughter, Misty (Brian) Bussinger of Cozad, 2 sons, Christopher (Amanda) White of Cozad and Steve (Kristie) White of Kearney; 2 sisters, Julie (Wes) Poggendorf of Elwood and Lori (Walt) Kerbel of Stanton; 3 brothers, Jerry (June) White of Jewell, KS, Mark White of Cozad and Mike (Karen) White of Elwood; 11 grandchildren, Bryson, Brittlin, Camden, Isaac, Makenna, Dreu, Jaidin, Annika, Trey, Quentin and Isaiah; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Father Don O'Brien officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
