Imogene M. Buss passed away January 22, 2016 at her home in Cozad at the age of 84. Imogene was born July 30, 1931 at Cozad, Nebraska to Rasmus and Lucinda 'Jeanette' (Coller) Hansen. She attended school in Cozad and graduated with the class of 1949. On September 20, 1958, Imogene married Elvin Buss. Imogene attended nursing school at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, NE. She returned to Cozad and started her career as a nurse at Cozad Community Hospital where she worked for 37 years. She then worked at the medical clinic as a receptionist for 4 years. Imogene was elected to the Cozad Hospital Board and Foundation Board and served for 16 years. She was instrumental with the planning and construction of Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living Facility in Cozad. In 2004, Imogene was inducted in to the Cozad Hospital Foundation Hall of Fame for her years of service to the medical community. Imogene was a volunteer at the Cozad Thrift Store, served on the Guiding Star Girl Scout Counsel Board, taught Sunday school and was a 4-H Leader for over 10 years. Imogene was involved with farming her entire life. She enjoyed traveling, watching sports activities and musicals. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elvin; son, Marc and granddaughter Misty. Survivors include 2 daughters, Cindy (Dan) Finnegan of Cozad and Lois (Tom) Shea of Gothenburg; son, Tim (Kim) Buss of Cozad; 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie and Jason Finnegan, Matthew Shea and Andrew and Megan Buss; 5 great grandchildren, Shaylee, Allyson, Quintin, Clancy and Miles Buss; 2 sisters, Arlene Beans of Mesa, AZ and Joyce Wolf of Greeley, CO; 2 sister-in-laws, Arlene Hosick and Doris Buss; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
