Carolyn S. Griese

Carolyn S. Griese of Cozad passed away July 18, 2016 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 64. Carolyn was born April 26, 1952 at Cozad, Nebraska to Robert and Evelyn (Keller) Bartruff. She attended rural school through 8th grade and graduated from Eustis High School. Carolyn studied nursing at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha where she received her degree as an RN. In 1973, she started her nursing career at the Cozad Community Hospital. Carolyn married Lynden Griese on February 14, 1975 at the Eustis United Methodist Church. The couple were blessed with 2 children, Robert LeRoy and Tara Lynn. Carolyn went on to work at the Cozad Medical Clinic and was Director of Nursing at Golden Living until her retirement. She enjoyed scrap booking, golfing and spending time at their Johnson Lake cabin. She received numerous awards as an RN and DON. This October, Carolyn will be inducted into the Cozad Hospital Foundation Health Care Hall of Fame. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Cozad United Methodist Church and bell choir. Carolyn's most treasured times were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; her grandparents; her in-laws, LeRoy and Theresa Griese; brother-in-laws, Reimund Loshonkohl and Karl Griese. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Lynden of Cozad; her mother, Evelyn Bartruff of Eustis; her children, Tara (Rock) Armagost of Cozad and Robert (Lea) Griese of Chadron; sisters, Jean Loshonkohl of Eustis, Mari (Doug) Banzhaf of Eustis and Janell (David) Wetovick of Eustis; grandchildren, Rowen, Jove and Reid Griese and Ryder and Ryker Armagost; sister-in-laws, Linda Twidwell of Rifle, CO and Jolene Griese of Cozad; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Inurnment will be at the Eustis Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Friday from 1 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
