Earl W. Sheets

Earl W. Sheets of Gothenburg passed away July 18, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney at the age of 75. Earl was born April 17, 1941 at Arnold, Nebraska to Claude and Etta (Wilson) Sheets. He graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1960. Earl married Jane Brooks at Gothenburg, Nebraska in 1962. Earl worked as a farm laborer for Dean Baalhorn and Elton Griffis near Cozad, Gengenbach Farms near Eustis and Farm Manager for Fly In Farms in McCook. Before retiring in 2006, he worked for Bellamy Grain and Agriliance in Cozad. Earl was baptized at Parkview United Methodist Church in Cozad. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; siblings, Esther, Georgia, Claude Jr., Russ, Leonard, Loyal, Lawrence, Allen and an infant sister; brother-in-laws, Wilbert Kruse and Wayne Bartlett; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Sheets. Survivors include his son, Rodney (Brenda) Sheets of Elwood; daughters, Joy Sheets of Gothenburg and Patricia Sheets of Kearney; grandchildren, Mitchell (Alysia) and Miranda Sheets, Marie, Shalyn (Matt Beatty) and Tyrell Sheets, Haley (Jordan) Sanchez and Payton (Logan Koehler) Prall; great grandchildren, Tresyn (Caitlin Cooper) Sheets and Lennon Sanchez; sister, Betty (Orville) Schmidt; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 8 with family receiving friends from 5 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
