John G. Wrage of Cozad passed away August 17, 2016 at the age of 70. John was born June 15, 1946 in Valentine, Nebraska to Ansel and Lillian (Cronin) Wrage. He graduated from Valentine High School. John married Eileen Hostetter in 1965 and was blessed with 5 children, Ellie, Marty, Jim, Riley and Ryon. John never met a stranger and was very proud of his Sandhill roots. He was an active supporter of his children and grandchildren's interests, sports and academics and very boastful of their accomplishments. John was married a second time, to Margaret Drudik (Haines) in 1990. Their combined family included his children, and Marge's children, Randy, Cindy, Terry and Tina. Golf was John's true passion; he loved every aspect of the game. He also enjoyed fishing, playing bridge with his friends, and grilling up a great steak. John was an active member of the BPOE; most recently the Cozad Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ansel Gilbert Wrage and Lillian (Bobbi) Wrage. John is lovingly survived by his wife, Margaret Wrage of Cozad; his children, Ellie (Shawn) Dugle of Loveland, CO, Marty (Louise) Wrage of Greybull, WY, Jim (Maria) Wrage of Des Moines, IA, Riley Wrage of Melbourne FL and Ryon Wrage of Spring Hill, FL; stepchildren, Randy (Marilynn) Haines of Grand Island, NE, Cindy (Ken) Stassen of Prior Lake, MN, Terry (Amy) Haines of Hastings, NE and Tina (Dan) Vanarsdall of Hershey, NE; 3 brothers, Jerry of Ogallala, NE, Fran of Danning, CA and Mike of Tampa, FL; 14 grandchildren, Shawn (Jill), Amanda (Chris), Jeff, A.J., Brooke, Skyler, Lauren, Davis, Jeremy (Jenee), Dana, Nicole (Matt), Damen, Bailie and Logan; 6 great grandchildren, Cooper, Ty, Brock, McKenna, Diem and Kinley; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Cremation was chosen. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cozad with Father Don O'Brien as celebrant. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Sunday from 1 to 5 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
