Dale B. Brownfield passed away September 14, 2016 at his home in Cozad at the age of 93. Dale was born June 12, 1923 at Cozad, Nebraska to Thomas and Leila (Kinnan) Brownfield. He graduated from Cozad High School. Dale attended Nebraska Wesleyan where he received a degree in business in 1947. He married Beverly Ann Hays in 1946. Dale and Bev moved to the family farm in Cozad following his college graduation. Dale farmed and ranched until his retirement in the 1980's. He continued to help run the auger tractor during harvest. If he wasn't working on the farm, he was golfing with family and close friends. Dale played on the sand greens and helped build the grass greens at the Cozad Country Club. He was on the original group that started the Central Nebraska Senior Golf Association and the first Cozad person to win the Haymaker Open. Dale served on many boards in the area, including, Camp Comeca, Cozad Country Club, Cozad Hospital, Cozad Ditch Company, and numerous church boards. He was Charter Member of the Cozad Elks Lodge #2250. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Jim and Estella; and infant daughter, DAnne. He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Cozad; son, Jim (Gayle) Brownfield of Cozad; daughter, Lynn (Ron) Townsend of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Jamie (Ben) Royal of York, NE and Mike (Stephanie) Brownfield of Elkhorn, NE; great grandchildren, Madelyn, Hayden and Hunter Royal and Jameson Brownfield. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2 to 4 at Meadowlark Pointe, 2300 Avenue O, family will be present.
