Allan L. Hoffmaster

Allan L. Hoffmaster of Cozad passed away September 25, 2016 at Golden Living Center at the age of 77. Al was born February 19, 1939 at Murphy, Nebraska to Merl and Bernice (Sims) Hoffmaster. The family moved to Washington when Al was 2. He graduated from High Line High School in Burien, Washington. Al joined the Navy National guard between his junior and senior year of high school and active navy right out of high school. He worked as a cook in Seattle until moving to Aurora, Nebraska in 1963. Al worked at a cafe before opening Al's Pastry Shop. On October 19, 1963, he married Kathy Wulf in Ohiowa, Nebraska. Al and Kathy moved to Cozad in 1970. He worked for Evan's Bakery, and retired from Valley Vending. Al enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, cars and bowling. His most treasured times were spent with family, especially his grandchildren. Al was preceded in death by his parents; son, Darin Hoffmaster; and father-in-law, Arthur Wulf. Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Cozad; sons, Troy (Susan Sheets) Hoffmaster of Lakewood, CO, Duane (Rainy) Hoffmaster of Lexington, Terry (Shelley) Hoffmaster of McCook, and Tyrone (Julie) Hoffmaster of Cozad; grandchildren, Colt'n, Kylee, Jake (Danielle), Amber (Nate), Katie, Darci, Blake, Anna, Estaphon (Chasity) and Jordan; great grandchildren, Chayden, Maliyah and Silas; brother Larry (Dorie) Hoffmaster of Seattle, WA; mother-in-law, Bessie Wulf; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church with PMA Kathy Gundell officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
