Judy F. Kraus of Cozad passed away October 31, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney at the age of 70. Judy was born March 11, 1946 in Callaway, Nebraska to Glenn and Vera 'Mama' (Melstrom) Malcom. The family moved to Cozad when Judy was 7. She graduated from Cozad High School. Judy married Ronald Kraus on November 13, 1965. The couple made their home in Cozad. Judy worked for the Cozad City Schools cafeteria for many years and enjoyed mentoring kids at the school. She was an exceptional cook and loved to take meals to sick family members and friends. She occupied her free time by drawing, keeping up on politics, and watching football- especially the Huskers and Packers. Judy was a proud grandma, and greatly enjoyed time spent with family and grandchildren. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, Marvin and Dallas Malcom; sister, Marlene McCone; 2 infant sons, Darin and Terry. Survivors include her children, Troy (Angel) Kraus of Broken Arrow, OK, Tawnya (Jeff) Jackson of Cozad, Traci (Jeff) Wall of Johnson Lake, and Trevis Kraus of Cozad; 8 grandchildren, Brittany (James) Minor of VA, Brooke and Brielle Kraus of Broken Arrow, OK, Ronelle and Karissa Jackson of Cozad, Ahnika, Addison and Alex Svajgr of Johnson Lake; 2 great grandchildren, Alexander and Caleigh; Duke, her favorite side kick; sister-in-law, Reva Nichols of Cozad; and many other nieces, nephews and extended family. Services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Patrick McCone officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
