Lois K. Baalhorn of Cozad passed away December 7, 2016 at Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg at the age of 86. Lois was born April 17, 1930 near Cozad, Nebraska to Ted and Rena (Thayer) Gill. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Cozad. She helped her parents with farm work and in their home. Lois graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1948. She married Dean Baalhorn on June 6, 1948 at the Cozad Christian Church. The couple were blessed with 2 children, Cindy and Dahlas. Lois was a devoted wife and mother. She took the children with her everywhere she went. From helping Dean on the farm to taking care of their home. When the children were grown, Lois became an Avon Representative, for more than 25 years. Lois moved to Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg in December of 2013 after her husband passed away. Lois was a faithful member of the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. She will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; and brother, Larry Gill. Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Mark) Peyton of Gothenburg; son, Dahlas (Marilyn) Baalhorn of Lincoln; grandsons, Reece and Alex Peyton and Brett Baalhorn and Riley (Anna Butierres) Baalhorn; 2 great grandchildren, Emilia Peyton and Isaac Baalhorn; sister-in-law, Jan Gill of Gothenburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church with Kathy Gundell PMA and Pastor David Boyd officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 6 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
