Beatrice Gomez of Cozad passed away December 8, 2016 Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington at the age of 86. Bea was born June 23, 1930 at Hastings, Colorado to Francisco and Leonor (Lubiano) Reyes. She married Jason Gomez in 1951 at North Platte, Nebraska. The couple made their home in various places before settling in Cozad in 1967 to raise their 5 children. Bea was employed by Monroe Auto for many years before her retirement. She was a faithful and devoted wife and mother; and never missed any of the kids and grandchildrens activities. She put everyone else's needs before her own. Bea loved to cook, and when family came for a visit, one could usually find her in the kitchen, whipping up the family favorites. She always made sure that everyone was well fed. Bea kept herself busy as a member of the Alter Society at church, running bingo at Southview, and making sure everyone's houses were clean. She enjoyed having lunch daily at the Cozad Grand Generation Center, getting her nails done and weekly hair appointments. Bea loved to go shopping. Herbergers and Schweizers were her favorite stores. Bea never missed social hour on Friday's at Welcov. She will be missed by so many. Memorials are suggested to Central Plains Hospice. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jason Gomez; her parents; 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include her children, 3 daughters, Adella (Raymond) Rios of Wahoo, Lisa (Reggie) Fox of Cozad, Leta (Greg) Zimbelman of Cozad; 2 sons, Alfred (Dawn) Gomez of Lincoln and Albert 'Bert' Gomez of Grand Island; sisters, Amelia (Dave) Canas of Cozad and Emily (Tom) Hernandez of Kearney; brothers, Sal Reyes of El Paso, TX, Ben Reyes of Kearney, and Gilbert Reyes of White Bear Lake, MN; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Don O'Brien as celebrant. Burial will be at Cozad Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 5 with family present from 4 to 5 at the Berryman Funeral Home.
