She enjoyed visits with family and neighbors, maintaining a garden large enough to feed her family even after they left home, and playing board games with children and grandchildren. Erna enjoyed music, was a talented piano player who enjoyed playing piano duets and singing. She enjoyed traveling, taking note of everything along the way and refusing to sleep, just in case she might miss something. She was also a life long avid reader. Erna spent the last three years of her life at the Elwood Care Center. She organized evening and weekend scrabble and other board games with any interested resident and occasionally played the piano at the care center. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
