Alfred Asa Simants, 75 of Cozad, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017 at the Cozad Community Hospital. Alfred was born June 14, 1941 in North Platte, Nebraska to Amos and Grace (Summers) Simants. He grew up and lived in North Platte, before moving to Cozad, Nebraska to work at Monroe Auto until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife Marsha; children, Cheryl (Anders) Kimball of Omaha and Clinton Simants of Cozad; 5 grandchildren, Kiley, Aaliyah, Bianca of Cozad, Bayley and Brayden of Omaha; sisters, Sandy (Bill) Boggs of Belle Fourche, SD and Marilyn (Ike) Real of Belton, TX and brother, Irwin Simants of Lincoln. Services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James McCrickard officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at the North Platte Cemetery, West Rodeo Road, Hwy 30, North Platte, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 at Berryman Funeral Home.
