Mary Jane Anthony

 Mary Jane Anthony of Lexington passed away February 27, 2017 at Plum Creek Healthcare at the age of 85.  She was born September 10, 1931 at Lexington, Nebraska to C. Emmett and Jane (Mitchell) Oldfather.  Mrs. Anthony graduated from Lexington High School and Colorado Women's College.  She married Robert Anthony on her nineteenth birthday, September 10, 1950 and they made their home on a farm northwest of Lexington.  Mr. Anthony passed away on June 6, 2012.  She was devoted to her beloved husband and her family.  She also loved music.  She was an accomplished pianist and played the organ.  She loved to write and many family and friends benefited from her correspondence.  She wrote poetry and enjoyed conversations with friends and especially with her grandchildren.  Mrs. Anthony was active in her church, Buffalo Grove Presbyterian, and later Cozad United Methodist Church.  She was welcomed by the congregation of Lexington Christian Church after she moved to Plum Creek Healthcare in Lexington.  Mrs. Anthony was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Tom Oldfather; and great granddaughter, Francesca Heidrick.  She is survived by her children; Janet (David) Quitmeyer and Tim (Marita) Anthony all of rural Lexington and Anna (Galen) Stehlik of Grand Island; grandchildren, Katie (Slim) Reece of Harrison, NE, Casey (Crystal) Quitmeyer of rural Lexington, Courtney Anthony of rural Lexington, Mitch (Erin) Stehlik of Grand Island, Antonia (Noe) Mendez of Gothenburg and Betsey (Matt) Heidrick of Fresno, CA; 10 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law's, Dorthy Oldfather of Lexington, Hazel Anthony of Lincoln and Lois Anthony of Lexington.  Memorials are suggested to Lexington Christian Church, Cozad United Methodist Church or donor's choice.  Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lexington Christian Church with Pastor Daniel Sauer and Pastor Doug Smith officiating.  Interment will be held prior to the service at Hewitt Cemetery.  Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
