Arthur W. Peters of Cozad passed away March 17, 2017 at Cozad Care Center at the age of 83. Art was born May 8, 1933 at Fremont, Nebraska to Orville and Marie (Boettcher) Peters. The family moved to Cozad in 1946. Art graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Army with the Corps of Engineers stationed at Kaiserslautern, Germany from 1953 to 1956. Art attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He married Patricia Ann Chambers on April 29, 1961 in Ravenna, Nebraska. Art was employed by Paulsen, Inc. for 48 years before retiring in 1998 and was the Building Inspector for the City of Cozad from 1998 to 2005. Art was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America since 1990. He served as Scoutmaster and in many other capacities on the local and district levels and was Chapter Advisor for Order of the Arrow. Art enjoyed working with the youth and the adult leaders in the Scouts. He was always ready to help out friends and relatives with their building projects and enjoyed researching genealogy. Art was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Patricia. Survivors include his sons, James (Kim) Peters of Lincoln, Bill (Kristi) Peters of Lincoln and Robert (Bridget) Peters of Lincoln; grandchildren, William, Joshua and Jacob; sister-in-law, Jackie (James) Rudnick of Grand Island and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family. Celebration of Life Services will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James McCrickard officiating. This is a casual dress occasion, no suits required. Burial with Military Honors will be at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 8 with family receiving friends from 4 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home.
