Robert (Bob) L. Zook, age 79, of Cozad, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Cozad Community Hospital. He was born December 1, 1937 in West Liberty, Ohio. Bob moved to Cozad in 1945 and graduated from Cozad High School in 1956. He attended Kearney State College, before returning to Cozad to work with his father, Harold, in the family business, Zook’s Welding Shop. Bob and his brother, Jerry, took over ownership of the welding and metal fabrication business from Harold in 1982, and he later became sole owner. Bob married Ruth Denny in 1960 and they had two children - Michael and Robin. Bob was an active member of Cozad United Methodist Church, Cozad Fire and Rescue, and a charter member of BPO Elks Lodge #2250. Bob particularly enjoyed his many years of service to the community on the fire department and retired in 2015 after 55 years of service. In 1981, Bob married Avis J. (Bodge) Barg, they were married for 33 years before her death in 2015. Attending grandchildren’s school and sports activities was a favorite pastime, as well as fishing, camping, bowling, wood working, and traveling. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Rose (Mitchell) Zook. He is survived by his son Michael and his wife Laurie Carrette Zook of Omaha; his daughter Robin Kuhlman and her husband Brent Kuhlman of Murdock, and Avis’s daughter Teresa (Barg) Chramosta and her husband Rick of Minden; grandchildren; Natalie and Rachel Zook of Omaha; Allison (Kuhlman) Burtch and her husband Sam Burtch of Lincoln, Jacob Kuhlman of Wichita, KS; Carlie Kuhlman of Murdock; Katie (Chramosta) Thompson and her husband Jake of Yutan; Brittany Chramosta of Lincoln, and Ryan Chramosta of Minden; great grandchild Klara Thompson of Yutan; brothers Tom (Nancy) Zook of Springfield, MO and Jerry (Kem) Zook of Cozad and sisters Raye Ann (Bob) Schum of Surprise, AZ and Jane (Jim) Conroy of Navarre, FL; and many other family and special friends. The family wishes to give thanks to all of Bob’s caregivers at Meadowlark Pointe, Cozad Community Hospital, and Heartland Hematology & Oncology. A special thanks to his longtime physicians Richard A. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home.
